AFRODISIAC III It is born as a reclaiming of the Afro-Lusophone cultural convergence space in Lisbon, as a living dimension of production, contamination, mixing and presence. It is a tribute to Afro artists of Portuguese-speaking language, who were and are active actors in the construction of the city's cultural landscape. The urban territory has changed and, with it, the spaces where these expressions could meet, cross and be lived collectively have progressively transformed. In this third edition, AFRODISIAC takes place at Arroz Estúdios: an island of resistance, one of the places that still preserves in Lisbon the possibility of expression, experimentation and independent cultural production. Music leads. The Afro Blu DJ's collective, with sound roots in Angola, Mozambique and Congo, has built over two decades its own language, crossing African, Afro-diasporic and contemporary references on the dance floor. Mama Demba, a true archaeologist of Lusophone music, dives into the musical universe of Cape Verde, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and the Antilles. Fella Ayala brings to the dance floor a vinyl selection marked by black music, between funk, afrobeat and rhythms of the diaspora. The stage also welcomes Geração Amílcar, a monologue performed by Ângelo Torres. History and personal experience run through the life, thought and legacy of Amílcar Cabral, questioning its resonance in the generations that succeeded him. In the visual arts, artist Valdemar Dória presents a work where the memory of São Tomé dialogues with the urban experience of Lisbon. Massimiliano Sarta exhibits Afro-disia, a series of collages that give rise to figures suspended between the human and the natural imaginary. And flavour also takes the stage: Cachupa and Moamba evoke Cape Verde and Angola. Join us.
