In 'A Reinvenção da Fala' (The Reinvention of Speech), artist Andrea Valencia addresses questions of bodies, languages and memory through nine new works created between 2020 and today that combine textile, participatory performance and text, on view daily in the atelier windows from 10h to 19h.
'A Reinvenção da Fala' (The Reinvention of Speech), by artist Andrea Valencia, addresses questions that cut across bodies, languages and memory, while challenging the conventional modes of communication between the oceanic, historical and philosophical axes that traverse the bodies silenced by the processes of colonialism. The exhibition brings together a selection of nine unpublished works, developed between 2020 and the present, which cross textile, participatory performance and text, in an immersive and material experience. 'A Reinvenção da Fala' confronts us with the urgency of manifest vitalities, transforming the fear of speaking, the impositions of silence and restricted speech into unusual possibilities of knowledge and mutual understanding among equals. Monday to Sunday, in the atelier windows, from 10h to 19h. Visits to the atelier by appointment. Credits: Curatorship: Lorena Salamanca, with the support of Atelier Artéria and Tiago Jordão.
