Lisbon fado singer and visual artist Zé Maria presents his latest album of originals, 'Ama e Faz o que Quiseres', as part of the 'Há Fado no Cais' series, accompanied by Bernardo Couto on Portuguese guitar, João Filipe on viola de fado and Francisco Gaspar on viola-baixo.

Synopsis Zé Maria is a Lisbon fado singer and visual artist. Born in 1988, he grew up in a universe deeply marked by Fado and the Arts, fields along which he steered his creative path from an early age. He studied Architecture and Illustration and complemented that training with vocal and musical studies, since then beginning his contact with the Fado houses, among them Casa da Mariquinhas and Mesa de Frades. After an experience in São Tomé and Príncipe, he returned to Lisbon and resumed his artistic activity in the fields of painting, illustration and music. Alongside exhibitions and editorial work as an illustrator, he consolidated his path in Fado. Since 2017 he has sung regularly in some of Lisbon's most emblematic Fado houses and in various artistic programming contexts. His singing, rooted in tradition, is distinguished by its attention to the word, its poetic sensitivity and a singular vocal expression. In 2022 he released his debut album on the Museu do Fado Discos label. Ama e Faz o que Quiseres is the title of his most recent album of originals, which fully confirms the stature of an interpreter of rare sensitivity and the singularity of a voice that holds a central place in the contemporary Fado scene.
