Synopsis WARNING: THIS TICKET IS NOT VALID FOR THE VISIT TO THE CASTLE This ticket is exclusively for the activity “Workshop: THE CHRISTMAS STAR”, which takes place on 6 December. If you only wish to visit São Jorge Castle, select the event “Visit | São Jorge Castle” Children's workshop conducted in Portuguese: What would it be like to celebrate Christmas at São Jorge Castle more than 500 years ago? In this workshop, families are invited to follow Joana and the raven Guilherme on a journey back to the year 1500, when D. Manuel I and D. Maria celebrated Christmas at the Royal Palace of the Alcáçova. As they pass through an imaginary door hidden in the walls, children and adults discover a Christmas different from the one we know today. Amid music, dances, masks, candles and a surprising enchanted garden, they find a celebration full of characters, sounds and stories. But there is a problem: a star has disappeared and it must be found! Between historical reality and imagination, families discover how ways of celebrating Christmas have transformed over time and are challenged to find what brings the Christmas of 1500 closer to their own experiences and memories. At the end, each family creates a star between two times: on one side, the Christmas of 1500; on the other, their own Christmas. Together, all the stars form a collective installation that reminds us that traditions change, but there are gestures and experiences that cross generations: being together, celebrating and sharing.
