Luís Neto da Costa

Wednesday 14 October

Lisboa Incomum, Lisbon

The composer Luís Neto da Costa presents, on 14 October at 7 p.m., at Lisboa Incomum, his most recent album, Last Chamber Works, in a session dedicated to the works included in this new record. Bringing together pieces composed at different moments of his recent career, the album reveals a compositional universe in permanent transformation, where research, experience and curiosity for different musical languages intersect. During the presentation, Luís Neto da Costa will discuss the ideas, references and processes that gave rise to the works, starting from Città filigrana, the first piece on the album, inspired by the imaginary of Italo Calvino, up to Punge, the work that closes the album and explores the universe of hardcore punk. The album also establishes a close relationship with the composer's doctoral research on the harmonic series, which runs through several of the works gathered on the record. More than a direct application of that theoretical framework, however, Last Chamber Works evidences a compositional practice open to experimentation and to the exploration of different sound territories. Free entry, subject to reservation: [email protected]. Free.
