Nearly two decades after their last performance in Portugal, Simply Red return for a one-off concert at the MEO Arena in Lisbon as part of their Summer Funk ’27 tour. Led by Mick Hucknall, the band brings classics such as ‘Holding Back the Years’, ‘Stars’ and ‘Fairground’ back to Portuguese stages.

Synopsis Nearly two decades after their last performance in our country, Simply Red return to Portugal for a one-off concert at the MEO Arena, in Lisbon, as part of their new tour Summer Funk ’27. Led by Mick Hucknall, Simply Red have built a career spanning more than four decades, establishing themselves as one of the most internationally recognised British bands and winning over several generations with a sound that crosses pop, soul and R&B. Their repertoire includes some of the most iconic songs in British music of recent decades, such as ‘Holding Back the Years’, ‘If You Don’t Know Me by Now’, ‘Stars’, ‘Fairground’, ‘Something Got Me Started’ and ‘For Your Babies’. In 2025, the band released Recollections, a collection of 40 new recordings of songs from their catalogue. Simply Red’s relationship with Portugal began in 1988, and since then the band has played some of the country’s main stages. Their last performance in Portugal took place in 2008, at Herdade dos Salgados, in Albufeira. In 2027, almost 20 years later, Simply Red are back in Portugal for another meeting with the Portuguese audience, in a performance that is part of Summer Funk ’27, which once again brings the band out on the road.
