Workshops by the Lisbon City Council's Gardening School that raise children, young people and seniors' awareness of sustainable practices, with themes such as growing rosemary, the life of trees, Dia da Espiga and botanical printing on clay.
Workshops organised by the Lisbon City Council's Gardening School, aiming to raise awareness and encourage children, young people and seniors to adopt sustainable practices and to recognise the importance of protecting natural resources, contributing to a healthier environment. Rosemary: how to grow and use it. 5 January to 18 December | Mon to Fri: 10h-12h or 14h30-16h30. This workshop aims to reveal all the secrets of growing rosemary, so as to obtain healthy plants, whether in the garden or in a window box. Participation: groups aged 8 to 14, seniors and people with special needs. Minimum of 8 and maximum of 25 participants per session. The Life of Trees. 30 March to 11 December | Mon to Fri: 10h-12h or 14h30-16h30. A simulation of some of the interactions between trees and their environment, through a game with four teams. Participation: groups aged 8 to 12. Minimum of 11 and maximum of 20 participants per session. Creating Keepsakes. 5 January to 2 October | Mon to Fri: 10h-12h or 14h30-16h30. Colourful flowers, curious seeds and small fruits will be explored, discovering their shapes, textures and stories. With these treasures of nature, each participant can create their own keepsake: a small object, collage or natural composition full of meaning. Participation: groups aged 3 to 14, seniors and people with special needs. Minimum of 8 and maximum of 25 participants per session. Dia da Espiga. 11 to 22 May | Mon to Fri: 10h-12h or 14h30-16h30. On this day of traditional Portuguese celebration, which takes place on Ascension Thursday (39 days after Easter), participants learn to make a bouquet with specific elements, such as the wheat ear, wild flowers, the olive sprig, poppies and rosemary or the vine, each with a symbolic meaning linked to fertility, abundance and protection. Participation: groups aged 3 to 14, seniors and people with special needs. Minimum of 8 and maximum of 25 participants per session. Botanical Printing on Clay. 5 January to 18 December | Mon to Fri: 10h-12h or 14h30-16h30. Each participant will choose natural elements and press them gently onto the clay, creating unique impressions, as if nature were leaving its own signature. As well as stimulating creativity and motor coordination, this activity invites care, curiosity and respect for nature, showing that it can be our partner in artistic creation. Participation: groups aged 6 to 14, seniors and people with special needs. Minimum of 8 and maximum of 25 participants per session. Sensory Garden. 5 January to 18 December | Mon to Fri: 10h-12h or 14h30-16h30. An interactive space dedicated to awakening the five senses, where natural textures, the sounds of water, birds and wind, and the colours and aromas of plants invite a full sensory experience, promoting harmony, balance and a deep connection with nature. Participation: groups aged 3 to 14, seniors and people with special needs. Minimum of 8 and maximum of 25 participants per session.
