Fernando Lopes-Graça and Fernando Pessoa are two major figures of 20th-century Portuguese culture. But there is a meeting between their works that remains little known to the general public. Between 1936 and 1987, Lopes-Graça composed twenty-seven songs based on poems by Fernando Pessoa and his heteronyms. Written over more than five decades, these works traverse different moments of the composer's aesthetic and sociopolitical journey and are part of his search for the creation of a Portuguese lied corpus. In the celebrations of the 120th anniversary of the birth of Fernando Lopes-Graça, the Museum of Portuguese Music - Casa Verdades de Faria presents “Lopes-Graça em Pessoa”, a recital by André Henriques (voice) and Philippe Marques (piano). The recital aims to bring this extraordinary set of songs to life, presenting it in full live, something unprecedented several decades after its composition. A meeting between music and poetry where one hears the sea, love, pain and loneliness, but also the “sensible movements of hope and will”. Free entry, subject to room capacity.
