Synopsis Pre-concert talk by Cesário Costa at 7:30 pm. Wonder Women L'Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar With Wonder Women , L'Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar propose a celebration of the creative strength, expressiveness and artistic legacy of women throughout the centuries. At the heart of this programme are remarkable works by 17th-century female composers, such as Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini and Antonia Bembo. For a long time relegated to the background compared to their male contemporaries, these creators played a fundamental role in establishing a singular musical language, marked by boldness, sensitivity and originality. The soloists Céline Scheen, Benedetta Mazzucato and Vincenzo Capezzuto perform tragic and comic narratives populated by passionate heroines, mystic saints, enchanting figures and ordinary characters confronted with the universal themes of love, destiny and devotion.
