After captivating thousands of spectators in Brazil, Mariana Xavier arrives in Portugal with 'Before Next Year', an irresistible comedy that combines humor, emotion and an impressive gallery of characters. On New Year's Eve night, an employee at a support center finds herself forced to take calls from people in the midst of emotional chaos. Between confessions, crises and absolutely unexpected situations, Mariana Xavier brings to life, alone on stage, a set of characters as funny as they are moving, in an extraordinary exercise of interpretation. With text by Gustavo Pinheiro and direction by Ana Paula Bouzas and Lázaro Ramos, 'Before Next Year' transforms themes such as mental health, loneliness and the search for happiness into an experience full of intelligent humor, sensitivity and identification. An engaging comedy that promises many laughs, moments of emotion and the certainty that, sometimes, laughing really is the best medicine.
