Cinema Impero is an experience for one person at a time in which Muna Mussie, an Italian-Eritrean artist, continues her investigation into dual cultural identity. The title refers to the cinema built by the Italian fascist regime in 1937 in Asmara, Eritrea. For this work, Mussie combines archive images from the Istituto Luce, created in 1924 as an educational and propaganda instrument, with images she recorded during her trips to Eritrea. These images are crossed by three voices: a synthetic artificial intelligence voice, which describes what it sees; Mussie's voice, which recounts what she recorded; and her shouted voice, which appropriates fragments of the official rhetoric that accompanied the regime's images. This performance is presented in two versions: for one person at a time, and a group version. Several sessions between 10:15 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Show in Italian with subtitles in Portuguese and English. Technical sheet: Written and directed by Muna Mussie; video direction and editing by Luca Mattei.
