The acclaimed British musician Omar Lye-Fook, one of the most influential figures in the history of neo soul, performs at Badassery on 30 October. The musician is preparing to give a unique concert that promises to bring together soul, jazz, funk, R&B and African influences in a night celebrating contemporary Black music. With a career spanning more than four decades, Omar is widely recognised as one of the great pioneers of neo soul, having inspired several generations of artists and collaborated with iconic names in international music, including Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, D'Angelo, Common, Leon Ware, Angie Stone and our own well-known Mayra Andrade. In this performance, Omar will be accompanied by the Portuguese band Pimenta Caseira, a collective made up of some of the most talented musicians on the national scene, recognised for their work in soul, funk, jazz and contemporary music.
