Synopsis Hairspray takes us to Baltimore in 1962, a time of vibrant music, restless youth and social change on the horizon. At the center of the action is Tracy Turnblad, a teenager full of energy and strong convictions, with an unshakable passion for dance and the dream of joining The Corny Collins Show. Against all expectations, she wins a place on the show and becomes an unexpected phenomenon, but fame soon reveals its dark side. As she conquers the stage, Tracy realizes that many are still left out simply because of the color of their skin. It is alongside the talented Seaweed, her best friend Penny, and in the charm of first love with Link Larkin that she discovers the real fight begins off the dance floor. With the strength and inspiration of Motormouth Maybelle and the unconditional support of her mother, Edna, Tracy finds the courage to turn the show into a protest for equality. Between the traps of fame and the schemes of Velma and Amber Von Tussle, she discovers that dancing can be much more than entertainment: it can be an act of revolution. With unforgettable songs, contagious humor and electrifying choreography, Hairspray celebrates diversity, friendship and the courage to fight for what is right. A story that proves there are no “right bodies” for dancing, nor dreams too big to be dreamed.
