The art of translating the world is the unifying theme of the IV Ibero-American Literature Night, which aims to bring contemporary literature closer to the general public. The event, a joint initiative of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture and the José Saramago Foundation, seeks to reflect on the fundamental role of translation in the dissemination of literature and in the building of cultural bridges. Forty artists of Spanish and Portuguese language from Spain, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Honduras, Angola, Panama, Romania and Portugal, representing diverse literary genres, participate in debate panels, poetic readings, conferences and concerts in prestigious spaces of the city, such as the Âmbito Cultural of El Corte Inglés, the lobby of the Hotel Tivoli Avenida Liberdade, the Teatro Thalia, the Palácio Baldaya, the Auditório Carlos Paredes and other reference locations situated in the parish of Benfica. The public, together with the Ibero-American authors and translators, is invited to reflect on the challenges of bringing Ibero-American voices to the world, the relevance of translation and the new ways of reading and translating an increasingly complex world.
