Macbeth

Thursday 8 October – Saturday 31 October

Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, Lisbon

After three years closed for renovation works, the Teatro Nacional D. Maria II reopens its doors, and it does so with irresistible boldness and irony. The first play to take the stage will be Macbeth, the same one that was on stage on that fateful night of December 2, 1964, when a powerful fire left the theater in ruins, fueling the legends, superstitions and curses that have always surrounded this Shakespeare tragedy. On September 18, 19 and 20, sessions take place at 6 p.m. (free admission, subject to conditions to be announced). Sessions with Portuguese Sign Language interpretation and with audio description on October 11 and 25. Technical sheet: Teatro Nacional D. Maria II. Text by William Shakespeare; translation and direction by Pedro Penim; with Ana Coimbra, Ana Tang, Bárbara Branco, Bernardo de Lacerda, Hugo Van Der Ding, João Grosso, José Neves, José Raposo, June João, Sandro Feliciano, Stela and Vítor Silva Costa.
