'Outlasting - Living Archives of Older Queers'

Thursday 26 November

Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Lisbon

Starting from the life stories of older LGBTQI+ people, Outlasting, Living Archives of Older Queers invites reflection on queer ageing, and on the importance of preserving and valuing experiences that contribute to building a collective memory of sexual and gender diversity. Produced as part of the TRACE project, Tracing Queer Citizenship Over Time, coordinated by Ana Cristina Santos at the Centre for Social Studies (CES), the documentary brings together testimonies from LGBTQI+ people over 60 years old in five Southern European countries: Portugal, Italy, Greece, Malta and Slovenia. The programme includes a screening of the film Outlasting, Living Archives of Older Queers, followed by a conversation with Ana Cristina Santos, moderated by the Coordination of the Thematic Section on Sexuality and Gender of the Portuguese Sociological Association. Location: Auditorium J. J. Laginha, Building 1, ISCTE, Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. Free.
