The 'Mar de Memórias' (Sea of Memories) course is a hands-on training in documentary photography that invites participants to explore the maritime heritage of Cascais through images and the stories of those who keep the relationship with the sea alive. Over six weeks, participants will be introduced to the principles of documentary photography, visual narrative and the collection of testimonies, building a collective project inspired by the knowledge and experiences of the communities linked to the sea. In the practical sessions and field trips, the challenge is to observe the territory, portray the material and human heritage and record stories that help preserve that memory and value local culture. The course will end with an exhibition at the Museu do Mar Rei D. Carlos in 2027, which will bring together the images and short accounts produced throughout the course. No previous experience is required to take part. The training is open to everyone interested in photography, heritage, memory and community artistic creation.
