An exhibition dedicated to João Pimenta Gomes's work across music and the visual arts, centred on 'New Age', an installation of a dozen resonant, foliate and metallic objects conceived specifically for MAAT's Sala Estúdio.
João Pimenta Gomes's work (Lisbon, 1989) moves freely between the worlds of music and the visual arts. Although the visibility of his projects as an instrumentalist and producer soon made him a recognised presence on the Portuguese music scene, his creative universe draws not only on sound but also on image, drawing and sculpture to conceive synergistic experiences, mostly of a performative and durational nature. Often starting from the characteristics of the spaces he occupies, his proposals tend to generate immersive environments, where the interactions between objects, sound and light are carefully articulated to produce continuous and enveloping sensory experiences. New Age is the most recent realisation of this ongoing investigation. Composed of a dozen resonant, foliate and metallic objects, the installation was conceived specifically for MAAT's Sala Estúdio, responding to the singularities of its architectural design.
