In this workshop for children aged 6 to 10, participants step into a clandestine newsroom to rebuild news, print newspapers and pamphlets, and create a pirate radio programme, discovering resistance to Estado Novo censorship.

Synopsis Mission: Democracy Programme Target audience: Ages 6 to 10 Rachel Caiano and José Leite. In this workshop, we will be part of the resistance: in a big clandestine newsroom, full of underground archive material (texts, images, newspapers, music, materials censored during the Estado Novo), we will be able to reconstruct news and images, read forbidden poems and texts, print newspapers, pamphlets and manifestos, and rebuild incomplete posters. In this newsroom, there is also a small pirate studio/radio where we can bring to life some of the created texts and make a radio programme with news, texts and music… that would not escape censorship. Project created within the partnership between the Centro Cultural de Belém/Fábrica das Artes and the Assembleia da República.
