Grupo Compay Segundo, the ensemble carrying on Compay Segundo's musical legacy, performs classics of Cuban son such as 'Chan Chan' and 'Guantanamera' at the Aula Magna in Lisbon on 7 March 2027. The concert is part of a four-date Portuguese tour that also includes Casa da Música in Porto and Casino Estoril.

Brief Introduction There are songs that cross borders, generations and decades without losing their identity. That is the spirit that continues to live on in the Grupo Compay Segundo , guardian of one of the most authentic expressions of traditional Cuban music. With the legacy of Compay Segundo as a starting point, the group keeps the flame of Cuban Son alive, bringing the audience the energy, the tradition and the soul of Cuba. Synopsis The Grupo Compay Segundo keeps the musical heritage of Compay Segundo alive, one of the most emblematic figures of Cuban Son and one of those largely responsible for bringing Cuba's traditional music to stages all over the world. After his death, in 2003, his stage companions continued his legacy, preserving the essence of a sound deeply connected to Cuban history and cultural identity. Through reinterpretations of great classics of the Cuban songbook, the group celebrates the Son , a genre born in eastern Cuba from the fusion of Spanish and African musical traditions. With its captivating rhythms, guitars, voices and the characteristic sound of traditional Cuban instruments, the show transports the audience to the musical universe that made Compay Segundo an international reference. “Chan Chan”, “Guantanamera”, “Macusa”, “El Beso Discreto”, “La Negra Tomasa” and “Juramento” are some of the melodies that are part of this encounter with Cuban music and culture, in a show that spans generations and keeps the spirit of Compay Segundo alive. In March 2027 , the Grupo Compay Segundo returns to Portugal for four performances: on 3 March , at Casa da Música , in Porto; on 4 March , at Casino Estoril and on 7 March , at Aula Magna , in Lisbon.
