Maria do Céu Guerra and Maria Rueff finally share the stage in a new 'and happy' version of Shakespeare's King Lear: an old aristocrat abandoned at a petrol station and a comedian stranded on a national road cross paths in a tragicomic journey about abandonment, old age and precarity.
Synopsis HAPPY NEW LEAR Synopsis: An old aristocrat of bygone days wanders lost and abandoned at a petrol station. A comedian on her way to a New Year's show runs out of car on a national road. Fate seems to want to bring these two characters together on a tragicomic journey that combines an old story of family succession with a practical problem of the contemporary world. Maria do Céu Guerra and Maria Rueff finally meet on stage for a new 'and happy' version of William Shakespeare's King Lear, where the relationship between the Fool and the King allows us to dive into the great problems of our time: abandonment, old age, precarity, indifference, war and despair.
