João Roiz Ensemble and Alexandre Delgado close the Beethoven Pilgrimage at CCB with String Knife Op. 59 No. 3 and the Great Fuge Op. 133, in a commented concert marking the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death.

Synopsis Commented concert by Alexandre Delgado. Beethoven Pilgrimage: from the Apotheosis to the Grand Ending Fuga João Roiz Ensemble In January 2025, the João Roiz Ensemble, in collaboration with Alexandre Delgado, began the Beethoven Pilgrimage 2025-2025, evoking the 200th anniversary of the death of the Van Beethoven (1770, 1827). This national project celebrates the life and work of the composer and his contribution to European humanism. Over three years, the Ensemble performs the complete chamber music of Beethoven — string trios, quartets and string voices — throughout the country. The initiative, unprecedented in Portugal, offers the audience a deep knowledge of the composer’s work and thought. The concerts are commented live by Alexandre S Metro, who enters into a dialogue with the audience, placing each works historically and aesthetically. The final concert, at Centro Cultural de Cultura de Belém, marks the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death, with the interpretation of the Quartet Quartet Op. 59 No. 3 and the Great Fuge Op. 133, works of extraordinary strength and transcendence.
