Brief Introduction Radioactive Rabbit João Sousa began sharing his music at a very young age. Younger than one might imagine, especially when considering how much he has already done, since when he has been doing it, and that he is approaching almost two decades of it. Prolific and generous, in the way he keeps releasing music on digital platforms and delivers tracks at unexpected moments, between a need to show his inspiration and a desire to be alive. João's music as Coelho Radioactivo feels like a battle against something. 'Anti-Ontem', the album he is now presenting at Zé dos Bois, was conceived over the course of a decade. During that decade, he released other records, presented other songs, but the idea of these ones lingered around, as a kind of something that one day would be composed, would make sense. As if the songs had a life of their own (well, don't they?), looking for a group to speak through, to exist in. João Sousa wanted to give them that life, he left them resting, breathing, waiting for a moment for their meeting - and re-encounter - with others that would walk in the same direction. These are songs also crafted in the spirit of an album idea, which kept changing over time, while absorbing influences from the music he was listening to and that made sense to follow: Grouper, Jenny Hval, Weyes Blood, Arthur Russell and Mark Hollis. Acoustic songs haunted by sounds that exist between the fog and a lonely despair, at a mild temperature that makes it impossible to hear these sounds as sounds of despair. They are sounds of maturity, of a musician understanding that certain ideas live beyond the present, in the certainty of continuity and of time's reward, time as the craftsman of articulation and of the transformation of ideas. Coelho Radioactivo sought something absolute in the extension of existence - his own, that of his ideas, of his songs. And he achieved that, and something more, in this 'Anti-Ontem'.
