In the village of Knapely, in Yorkshire, a group of friends from the Women's Institute sees their routine shaken when John, Annie's husband, falls seriously ill and dies. To honour his memory and support other families, they decide to raise funds for the local hospital, proposing a bold idea: creating an 'alternative' calendar in which the women of the association pose nude. What begins as a small initiative becomes an enormous success, selling so many calendars that it not only allows them to buy a sofa, but also to fund a new wing of the hospital named after John Clarke. Tim Firth's play is based on the true story of women who, in 1999, posed nude to support leukaemia research. Technical details: Stagedoor. Book and lyrics by Tim Firth; music by Gary Barlow; staging by André Lourenço and Raquel Pereira; featuring the students of the Stagedoor open course - Musical Theatre School.
