Sei Miguel

Sunday 25 October – Sunday 21 February

Culturgest, Lisbon

A prominent figure in Portuguese jazz and experimental music, Sei Miguel developed his own language to explore what conventional musical notation could not translate. Between drawing and writing, between symbol and word, he created hybrid graphics that record dynamics, tensions and sonic possibilities, opening new paths for musical creation and sharing. Curated by Bruno Marchand, this exhibition brings together an extensive and diverse set of these works, revealing a lesser-known dimension of Sei Miguel's artistic practice. More than instruments of musical orientation, these drawings constitute singular forms of communication, designed to make visible what cannot always be expressed in words or represented on a staff. Guided by a strong ethical sense and a deep attention to collective work, Sei Miguel sought to build bridges between creators, inventing codes capable of embracing different sensibilities and ways of listening. The exhibition thus invites visitors to discover the graphic universe of an artist whose influence extends far beyond the field of music, and to explore the relationships between sound, image, thought and collaboration. ARV. Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Technical sheet: Curated by Bruno Marchand.
