Chestnut and Ginja Festival

Friday 13 November – Saturday 14 November

Posto de Informação e Promoção Turística da Madeira, Lisbon

On 13 and 14 November, the Madeira Tourist Information and Promotion Office brings to the capital the flavours and traditions of the Chestnut and Ginja Festival, a typical celebration from Curral das Freiras that pays tribute to one of the most emblematic fruits of the Madeiran autumn: the chestnut. Roasted chestnuts, prepared on the spot and served piping hot, will be the great protagonists of this event, recreating the aromas and welcoming atmosphere of Madeira's popular festivals. The experience will be completed with a selection of regional specialities, including chestnut soup, chestnut liqueur, Madeira ginja, bolo do caco with garlic butter and other delicacies that promise to showcase the most traditional flavours of this time of year.
